Custodial Worker

Job Title

This is routine manual work cleaning and maintaining county buildings and grounds.

An employee in this class performs a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks. Work is performed in accordance with an established routine and will be inspected regularly by shift foreman to assure that proper standards of cleanliness are maintained.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Wash and dust furniture, shelves and other office surfaces
• Vacuum carpeted floors
• Dry and wet mop floor and stairs
• Empty trash and recycling cans, replace trash can liners
• Clean restrooms and replenish all restroom supplies
• Wash windows
• Strip, wax and buff floors using a power buffing machine
• Move furniture
• Shovel snow from sidewalks and step s around county buildings
• Report necessary repairs to foreman
• Perform related work as required

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to learn the materials, methods and practices used in custodial work
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to exercise care in the use of various cleaning supplies and materials
• Sufficient physical strength to lift heavy objects and perform essential job functions that may require bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching and other physical exertions
• Must possess valid driver's license

Minimum Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in the cleaning and maintenance field
