Customer Sales Representative

Atlas Global Talent is working with an established freight brokerage in Chicago that is continuing to expand its customer sales operation. The company already has an established Chicago office with approximately 25 employees across its customer and carrier sales teams, operating through a mixture of onsite and hybrid working. They are now looking to add experienced Customer Sales Representatives / Account Executives who can take ownership of developing new business and building profitable customer relationships. This is a role with a good level of autonomy. The business is looking for experienced salespeople who are comfortable managing their own desk, developing their own pipeline and taking responsibility for their results without being heavily micromanaged. The Role As a Customer Sales Representative, you will be responsible for developing new shipper relationships and growing a profitable book of business. You will manage the commercial side of the customer relationship while working closely with the carrier sales and operations teams to ensure freight is covered and customers receive a consistently high level of service. Your responsibilities will include: Prospecting and developing new shipper accounts Building and managing your own sales pipeline Making outbound calls and conducting targeted business development Identifying new freight opportunities within your target market Building relationships with decision-makers across prospective accounts Quoting and negotiating freight opportunities Winning and onboarding new customers Developing existing accounts and increasing shipment volume Managing customer relationships and acting as a key point of contact Working closely with carrier sales and operations to ensure successful execution Maintaining visibility over margins, service levels and account performance Identifying opportunities to increase revenue and gross profit Maintaining accurate activity and customer information within the company's systems Taking ownership of your individual sales performance and book of business What They're Looking For The ideal candidate will already have experience working within US freight brokerage or third-party logistics. You should be comfortable operating in a sales-driven environment and confident developing business independently. Previous experience could include positions such as: Account Executive Sales Executive Business Development Representative Business Development Manager Customer Sales Representative Freight Broker Logistics Sales Representative Candidates should ideally have: Previous freight brokerage or 3PL sales experience Experience prospecting and winning new shipper accounts Strong understanding of the US domestic transportation market Confidence conducting outbound sales and business development Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills Commercial awareness around rates, margins and profitability The ability to manage a sales pipeline independently A self-motivated approach and comfort working with a high level of autonomy Strong communication and organizational skills Working Environment The first month will be fully onsite in the Chicago office. This initial period is designed to allow new hires to properly learn the company's systems, workflow, processes and operating model while developing relationships with the existing customer sales, carrier sales and operations teams. Following successful onboarding, the position moves to a hybrid structure with 3 days per week in the Chicago office. This isn't a remote sales position. The hybrid structure is designed to offer flexibility while maintaining collaboration with an established Chicago team.
