Job Title: Blast Room Operator
Job Description

The Blast Room Operator supports a surge in production by preparing, blasting, and finishing metal parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work in teams of two to three in a fully enclosed blast room, using industrial sandblasting equipment, overhead cranes, and forklifts to handle parts ranging from 40 to 1,000 pounds. This role includes training on day shift for one to two weeks and offers the opportunity to build valuable industrial and mechanical skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal parts for the blast room according to work orders and job specifications.
• Read and interpret prints to understand product requirements and blasting details.
• Handle and move parts weighing from 40 pounds up to 1,000 pounds using an overhead crane and forklift.
• Rig material safely to ensure secure lifting, proper positioning, and safe movement of parts.
• Operate industrial sandblasting guns to apply specific blasting media onto metal parts.
• Perform paint preparation tasks as needed to ensure surfaces are ready for subsequent finishing processes.
• Move parts out of the blast facility after processing and perform visual inspections to verify quality.
• Conduct basic maintenance on blast guns and related equipment to keep them in safe and reliable working condition.
• Clean the blast booth by sweeping and maintaining a tidy work area to support safety and efficiency.
• Work collaboratively in teams of two to three to complete blast room operations efficiently and safely.
• Follow all safety procedures, including correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to plant safety guidelines.

• Direct sandblasting experience is a major plus and strongly preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and operate industrial equipment.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to train and develop new skills.
• Ability and experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Ability and experience operating an overhead crane for material handling.
• Rigging experience to safely lift, move, and position heavy parts.
• Ability to read and understand work orders and basic prints.
• Capability to handle and move parts weighing from 40 pounds up to 1,000 pounds.
• Comfort working with industrial sandblasting guns and related equipment.
• Attention to detail to perform quality inspections after blasting and paint prep.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small team in a production environment.

• Experience with industrial sandblasting, blasting, or sandblaster operations.
• Background in paint preparation, painting, or use of industrial sprayers.
• Experience with sanding and surface preparation for metal parts.
• Previous work in a manufacturing plant, paint booth, or blast booth environment.
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled industrial setting.
• Willingness to work across different shifts, including day, second, or third shift as needed.

Work Environment

The position is based in a general manufacturing plant that includes machines, plating tanks, and dedicated paint and blast booth areas. The sandblast booth is fully enclosed and requires full personal protective equipment, including a protective suit and a helmet supplied with cool, fresh air. You will work around forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment in a non-climate-controlled facility. Blast room operations are performed in teams of approximately three people, with training on day shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) for one to two weeks, followed by assignment to available shifts such as first shift (Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), second shift (Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.), or third shift (Sunday–Thursday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.), as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of York, PA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in York,PA.
