Job Description When a Soldier has a question about benefits, policy, or a sensitive issue, the Army National Guard’s Human Resources Specialist is the primary go‑to person. The HR Specialist helps Soldiers develop their Guard careers and provides personnel support and assistance to all divisions within the Guard. Responsibilities Organize, maintain, and review personnel records Perform data entry and retrieval Process recommendations and prepare related documentation Arrange award ceremonies Prepare, update, and coordinate requests for evaluations Prepare and monitor Soldier requests for ID cards and tags, leaves of absence, and passes Order and maintain office supplies Maintain filing systems Assist on all human resource support matters Oversee all strength management and strength distribution actions Ensure readiness, health, and welfare of all Soldiers Provide postal and personnel accountability support Maintain emergency notification data Skills Aptitude for business administration Able to follow detailed orders Sound people skills Training and Education In the Army National Guard, you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. Job training requires ten weeks of Basic Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training and on‑the‑job instruction, covering basic Soldiering skills, typing, Army correspondence, personnel record management, and computer update and retrieval procedures.
