Job Description And Duties The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Legal Division is recruiting to fill one permanent full-time Legal Support Supervisor I position in the Legal Operations Branch (LOB). The position is located in the Sacramento Headquarters office and reports to a Supervisor I in the Legal, Policy, and Program Services Unit (LPPSU). The LPPSU is dedicated to providing policy, administrative, and legal clerical support to the Legal Division’s policy branches. The Legal Support Supervisor I will provide direct supervision for up to six Legal Secretaries. Working under the general direction of the Supervisor I, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and organizing the development, ongoing support, and training related to various administrative and legal clerical staff functions supporting the Children's and Community Care Licensing Policy & Litigation Branch (CAL); Family and Adult Programs Policy & Litigation Branch (FAB); and Information, Technology & Administrative Litigation (ITAL) Branch. The Department of Social Services does not participate in E-Verify for employment authorization purposes. Special Requirements The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired. The selected candidate will be subject to a criminal records background check clearance by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. A criminal conviction or history does not in and of itself preclude employment. The Legal Support Supervisor I must type at least 40 wpm and have knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and technical terms. A current typing certificate (issued within the past four years) verifying the typing speed of a minimum of 40 wpm is required for this position. You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD 678). You may be disqualified from the hiring and selection process if the employment history is inaccurate or incomplete.
