DescriptionWe are looking for an Associate to join a respected medical malpractice defense practice in Houston, Texas. This opportunity is well suited for an attorney with early-career litigation experience who wants to sharpen courtroom skills, build sound case-management judgment, and grow within a collaborative legal team. The role offers meaningful hands-on involvement in active matters, regular mentorship from experienced attorneys, and a clear path for long-term career advancement.Responsibilities:• Oversee medical malpractice defense matters through each phase of litigation, from initial case assessment to final resolution.• Prepare and refine litigation documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and related case filings.• Perform legal research, evaluate facts and authorities, and help shape defense strategies for assigned matters.• Conduct depositions and represent clients during witness examinations and related proceedings.• Appear at hearings, mediations, and other court-related events on behalf of the firm and its clients.• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and retained experts to keep matters moving efficiently.• Partner with senior attorneys for guidance while steadily building the ability to manage files with increasing independence.• Meet a monthly billable workload expectation of 175 hours while maintaining strong quality and responsiveness.Requirements• J.D. from an accredited law school.• Active license to practice law in Texas with membership in good standing.• At least 1 year of legal experience, with 1–5 years preferred.• Prior exposure to civil litigation is preferred, though strong interest in litigation development will also be considered.• Demonstrated ability or readiness to draft motions, manage discovery, and support deposition work.• Strong written communication, analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills.• Self-directed approach to work with the ability to take ownership of assigned matters.• Interest in a long-term legal career with advancement potential toward partnership.Job typePerm
