Assistant Softball Coach

Job Title: Assistant Head Softball Coach Location: Hammond Overview Purdue University Northwest is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach. Reporting to the Head Softball Coach, this position is responsible for assisting with the planning, organizing, and coaching of the softball team. Must have strong knowledge of softball skills and strategies, and will assist with recruiting, academic oversight, fundraising, social media, and camps and clinics. Maintain knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Salary Range: $35,568 - $40,000 Duties and Responsibilities Assist with daily practice and game coaching Recruit prospective student athletes Assist with team travel and equipment check‑out and return Assist with summer camps and clinics Monitor academics and study table hours Assist with scouting and researching opposing teams Serve as a positive mentor and leader for the student athletes Enforce NCAA and conference regulations regarding team participation Assist with game management Assist with Fitness Center coverage Serve as Van driver transporting teams to and from away games Perform other duties as assigned Benefits Full benefits – Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Retirement, Life Insurance, and more Accrue 15 days’ vacation your first year, then 22 days your second year plus rollover University contribution of 10% to retirement (3‑year waiting period) University contributions to Health Savings Account, with a chance to earn more through participating in University Wellness Initiatives 10 paid holidays Employee Wellness Programs Paid Parental Leave after one year of service Tuition remission for you, your spouse, and dependent children at any Purdue campus Education Bachelor's Degree required Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Education, Fitness, or related program preferred Experience Two years of softball coaching experience required at the professional, college, or high school level Core Competencies Strong team building and management skills Ability to work across academic and administrative departments cooperatively Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to coordinate collaborative efforts Demonstrated experience in program development, management, and leadership Ability to interact with members of the public and media Ability to supervise temporary staff Understanding of student‑athletes’ commitment to academics Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs frequently, and up to 20 lbs occasionally Valid driver’s license required; may be asked to use personal vehicle for university business Must meet Minimum Driver Qualifications as defined by the University’s Use of Vehicles for University Business Policy Maintain knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations to ensure compliance Additional Information Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position.
