Senior Overhead Crane Technician

Crane South LLC is a growing overhead crane service company specializing in inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, maintenance, modernization, and installation of overhead cranes and hoists throughout North and South Carolina.

We are seeking an experienced Overhead Crane Technician with strong electrical troubleshooting skills. This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must have previous experience working on overhead cranes and hoists and must be comfortable troubleshooting industrial electrical systems.

What You'll Do

· Perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations on overhead cranes and hoists.

· Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving:

• 120V, 240V, and 460V systems
• Motors and motor controls
• Contactors and relays
• Limit switches
• Pendant controls
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

· Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

· Perform mechanical repairs including gearboxes, brakes, wire rope systems, wheels, bearings, and crane structures.

· Conduct load testing and operational testing.

· Complete inspection reports and service documentation.

· Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment conditions and repair recommendations.

· Follow all OSHA requirements and Crane South safety policies.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience as an Overhead Crane Technician. Due to the specialized nature of this work, we are only accepting applicants who have previously performed this job.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience is required. Applicants without industrial electrical troubleshooting experience will not be considered.

· Ability to diagnose and repair 3-phase 460V motor control circuits.

· Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

· Experience troubleshooting hoists, cranes, motors, brakes, contactors, relays, and control systems.

· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

· Ability to work at heights of 30-60 feet.

· Ability to lift heavy equipment

· The position requires 8 to 12-hour shift work, which can include Saturdays and Sundays as well as 24/7 availability, depending on customer needs.
