Specific Responsibilities:

The University of Rochester School of Nursing and Health Sciences seeks a strategic, student-centered academic leader to foster a culture of continuous learning that positively impacts and engages students in a safe, inclusive environment. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean for Assessment and Educational Innovation will provide executive oversight of experiential learning operations, academic innovation, and resource strategy to ensure the delivery of high-quality, future-focused education.

The successful candidate will exercise broad decision-making authority, lead cross-functional collaboration, inclusion, and respect.

The Associate Dean will partner with academic and administrative leadership to drive operational efficiency, lead resource and budget planning, oversee assessment, institutional reporting, and accreditation processes, and ensure alignment with institutional priorities and accreditation standards.

The candidate should also be well-versed in education-related administrative and business processes, accreditation requirements, learning assessment practices, and educational technology

Administrative

· Provides executive oversight of and leads all education technology resources to support curriculum delivery.

· Leads cross-functional alignment with senior leadership, admissions, and student services leaders to ensure alignment of academic resources and student learning needs.

· Partners with finance and administrative leadership to drive resource strategy, optimize utilization, and align investments with academic priorities, including implementation of education-related digital solutions and databases.

· Provides strategic oversight and executive leadership of the Center for Excellence in Nursing and Health Sciences Education.

· Leads the vision, strategy, and oversight of simulation-based education, ensuring innovative, high-quality simulation experiences are integrated across programs to enhance student learning, clinical readiness, and accreditation compliance.

· Leads and aligns school-wide assessment strategies across all academic programs.

· Leads accreditation strategy and ensures continuous readiness for accreditation and reaccreditation processes across multiple accrediting bodies.

ACADEMIC Program Strategy and Innovation

· Provides strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous advancement of academic initiatives and innovation.

· Partners with program directors to strategically assess and align Center for Excellence and Simulation resource needs for existing and new academic programs and/or courses.

· Leads the integration and optimization of education technology and experiential learning resources to support curriculum innovation and scalability.

· Partners with communications to strategically elevate and promote innovation initiatives, as well as provide ongoing updates to the SON website.

· Leads collaboration with IT to ensure alignment with academic needs and to drive development of innovative technology solutions.

· Drives continuous improvement and innovation in academic processes, systems, and practices related to implementation, evaluation, and documentation of academic program activities.

Accreditation, Assessment, Institutional Reporting and quality assurance

· Leads Institutional Reporting and survey responses; oversees institutional reporting staff, in collaboration with Office of Data Insights and Reporting.

· Leads and contributes to strategic planning initiatives and management plan priorities.

· Leads data-informed decision-making and establishes systems for academic analytics and performance monitoring.

· Oversees and drives evaluation of program effectiveness, using quantitative and qualitative methods, and ensures implementation of continuous quality improvement strategies.

· Leads development and implementation of education-related policies and procedures, in collaboration with academic leadership, to satisfy accreditation requirements.

Communication and Visibility

· Leads and strengthens strategic partnerships within the SON, URMC, and the University to support the SON and promote visibility.

· Serves as a senior representative on University committees and institutional initiatives.

· Serves as a visible institutional leader representing the SON at regional, state, national, and international levels to promote educational excellence and innovation.

Faculty responsibilities

· Teaches at least one course per academic year, unless deemed unable by the Dean

· Participates in faculty meetings.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements:

· Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in nursing, education, or a related field, and strong evidence of excellence in an area(s) consistent with SON educational initiatives and strategic goals.

· Five years of demonstrated record of excellence in professional nursing education.

· Ability to work creatively and collaboratively.

· Superior interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

· Experience with education technology, program development, implementation and assessment preferred.

· Current NYS RN licensure
