Physical Therapist

Position Summary Physical Therapist responsible for evaluation, planning, administration, and supervision of PT treatment in accordance with physician referral, state and national standards, regulatory agencies, and departmental policies. Provides treatment appropriate to patient age and functional status across acute care settings including Med‑Surg, Oncology, Stem‑Cell, ICU, PCU, ED, and Observation. Shift Tuesday‑Friday. Core Functions Evaluate patient functional abilities and limitations; determine need for intervention; establish plan of care and treatment goals; complete comprehensive evaluation within departmental time frames; identify key limiting factors; collaborate with patient and family; initiate discharge planning; recommend modifications of referring orders. Implement individualized treatment plan considering physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational, and age‑specific needs; provide skilled treatment safely; assess ongoing effectiveness and modify plan as indicated; involve patient and family in decision making; provide ongoing education to physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team. Document according to professional guidelines and regulatory agencies; complete documentation within established time frames; document evidence‑based techniques and patient progress; reassess treatment goals per department policy. Communicate pertinent patient information; share evaluation/treatment results and progress with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and team; contact physicians for routine or complex problem solving; defend treatment rationale with current literature. Exhibit adaptability in caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts; take initiative to assist in other patient care areas; accept responsibility for all patient care needs. Demonstrate appropriate supervision and delegation of personnel (PTA, ATC, Therapy Technician, student) to ensure safe delivery of quality, cost‑effective care; participate in training and orientation of new personnel; assure competency prior to delegation. Participate in department operational activities; attend required meetings; engage in process improvement; meet productivity standards. Interact with all levels of staff across departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts; report, request, or clarify information with physician offices. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an APTA‑accredited Physical Therapy school or equivalent. Current Physical Therapy license in the state of practice; for internationally trained candidates, obtain license within six months of hire per California regulations. BLS certification. Demonstrated clinical competency, experience, training, and education as required. Proficiency with computer software applications used in automated patient care environments. Experience with patient care equipment, evaluation tools, and therapeutic modalities. Physician roles that require Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card must obtain and maintain the card.
