Clinical Unit Leader - Charge Nurse - Med Surg - Orthopedic - St. Francis Eastside

Clinical Unit Leader – Med Surg – Orthopedic – St. Francis Eastside Shift: 6:45pm to 7:15am Responsibilities Lead RN/Charge Nurse is responsible for coordinating patient care on a designated unit. In collaboration with the Clinical Manager, coordinate nursing staff to develop and sustain an environment that promotes clinical practice excellence and customer satisfaction while optimizing efficiency and resource use. Adjusts the schedule and patient assignments to accommodate changes in acuity, patient population, resources & care design. Provide staff guidance, clinical support, and oversee unit responsibilities in the absence of the unit leader. Maintain knowledge of environmental safety standards and infection control; utilize appropriate supplies and equipment. Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding nursing interventions and plan of care. Conduct rounds to evaluate safety, quality, and patient experience. Serve as a resource to staff, patients and families to ensure effective communication. Function as a clinical resource and role model for staff; may serve as a preceptor. Engage in interprofessional collaborative practice to ensure care coordination and continuity of care and optimal patient experience. Communicate with other departments to resolve operational problems as necessary. Participate in ongoing quality monitoring and performance improvement through monitoring activities and evaluation of unit-based results. Facilitate appropriate patient placement and safe, efficient admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Provide feedback and mentoring to nursing and support staff. Foster teamwork, mutual respect, and open communication; manage conflict in a timely, direct and constructive manner. Support the mission and vision of the organization and adhere to policies. Practice and deliver care in accordance with the Nursing Professional Practice Model.
