Survey Party Chief

Short Description Bowman has an opportunity for a Survey Party Chief to join our team in Charleston, WV. Purpose Perform a variety of field tasks associated with surveying & geospatial data collection. Responsibilities Perform work under moderate supervision and review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance. Lead field crews, supervise quality and methodology, provide training, and mentor junior employees. Coordinate with contractors to deliver survey services. Identify property line controls and determine appropriate survey procedures. Gather necessary information efficiently and assign tasks to crew members. Discuss work with clients as needed. Make calculations and maintain essential survey records. Ensure assigned survey truck and all equipment are properly maintained and inventoried. Communicate with management to maximize efforts and man‑hours. Continuously promote the firm’s capabilities to acquire new clients and strengthen existing relationships. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience considered. Three or more years of experience in a land surveying party. Prior Party Chief experience is a plus. Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred. Thorough knowledge of construction stakeout procedures and practices. Familiarity with field procedures for boundary, ALTA, and NSPS land title surveys. Experience with topographic, road frontage cross‑section, and as‑built surveys. Knowledge of total station, GPS, and data collection; adaptability to new equipment and technologies. Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
