Sterile Processing Technician

This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity for a Sterile Processing Technician, with responsibilities that include sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping of surgical instruments and equipment. The role requires effective collaboration within surgical services and adherence to industry standards for sterile processing.

Schedule

• Shift: 5x8s from 15:00 - 23:30
• Holiday Rotation: Required
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends
• Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities

Key Responsibilities

• Perform sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping of surgical instruments.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure required instruments are available.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation regulations throughout the sterilization process.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Participate in rotating weekend duties and holiday schedules as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing.
• Level 1 Trauma experience required.
• Experience in sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping is essential.
• Preferred case experience in Neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, Transplant, and GYN.
• National certifications required: CBSPD and/or HSPA.
• BLS certification is not required.

Additional Information

• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis.
• All requested time off (RTO) must be provided at the time of submission; no adjustments will be accepted post-contract signing.
• Guaranteed hours: The facility may cancel one shift per two weeks.
• Limit of two callouts allowed without a doctor's note; exceeding this may lead to removal from the assignment.
• RTO is mandatory for holiday requests, and travelers are expected to work if not requested off.

Work Environment

This role is situated in a Level I Trauma Center, recognized as a teaching facility and Magnet Hospital, with a total of 820 staffed beds.

Parking is available for a one-time fee for nights and weekends only.

Hurricane Season

Please be aware that during hurricane season (June to November), all employees may be assigned to emergency response teams. If this is a concern, it is advisable not to confirm a new or extended assignment during this period.
