Respiratory Unit - Respiratory Therapist

Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 2 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >75 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Aya Program - BJC Health System and no current placement allowed at Program: Aya Program - BJC Health System.

Additional Details:

RNs only - Clinicians who obtained RN degree outside of the U.S. and do not hold MO/IL/Compact license require extended licensing and compliance timeframe.

You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing.

Required Skills/Experience: 300+ bed hospital experience required. Airway management devices/suctioning required: Endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal/suctioning, sputum specimen collection, tracheostomy/suctioning. Medication administration required: Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, lidocaine, nitric oxide (INo), Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, Xopenex. Medication delivery systems required: Aerosol set up mask, aerosol set up trach, metered dose inhaler. Nebulizer required: Hand held, T-piece, trach collar, ultrasonic. Oxygen therapy required: High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC). Ventilator management required: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, weaning from mechanical ventilation. ABG interpretation required.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Level I trauma experience preferred. Teaching hospital experience preferred.

Special Requests: No medical marijuana cards accepted. Local candidates are not accepted within 75 miles of the facility.

Unit Details: Adult and geriatric patient population.

Wear scrubs. • If you are working a straight night shift: If you are working straight night shift, there is no charge for parking, and you may park in the employee parking (you will receive parking information during orientation). • If you will be working a day/night rotation: you will have to obtain a parking pass for which there is a $70.00 fee per month. The garage that you will be parking in will be Clayton/Taylor Ave location. Bring your license plate number with you on your first day.

Shift & Scheduling: BJC policy: Every other weekend required. Every third weekend. RTO: No more than 7 days.

Floating Requirements: Will float within scope to meet facility needs.

All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear “Yes” or “No” response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.
