About Communities In Schools of South Central Texas, Inc. Communities In Schools of South Central Texas has a 30‑year history of providing a wide range of services to students and their families. The program is part of a national nonprofit network that supports students at risk of dropping out and who may need extra assistance in their daily lives. The organization is well‑respected and has grown significantly over the years. Serving seven school districts across four counties, CIS SCT manages a budget of approximately $5.4 million and serves roughly 40,000 students and young adults with preventive and intervention services. The six components that make up CIS of South Central Texas are: supportive guidance and counseling, health and human services, parental and family engagement, college and career awareness, educational enrichment, and academic support. Position Summary The Site Coordinator plays a vital role in helping students overcome challenges and stay on track to graduate. Working on an assigned school campus, the Site Coordinator leads the development and implementation of needs assessments, campus planning, and the daily execution of the CIS Model. The Coordinator acts as a bridge between students, families, school staff, and community partners, coordinating targeted support for at‑risk students to improve academic performance, behavior, attendance, and progression to the next grade level. In this role the Coordinator actively builds relationships with school administration, teachers, parents, and community organizations to deliver wrap‑around services tailored to individual student needs. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate, confidential documentation of all services, conducting student and campus‑wide needs assessments, developing individualized service plans, performing home visits as necessary, and training and supporting volunteer mentors. Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Competencies Campus Integration Build and maintain strong relationships with campus administration, staff, students, and community partners to support student success. Promote communication and cooperation between faculty, school administration, and the CIS program to establish an effective school support plan and service delivery plan. Collaborate with school personnel and the student support team to plan and deliver intentional services/programming aligned with campus needs. Complete a comprehensive annual needs assessment for the campus with input from appropriate persons. Educate school staff about the CIS Model and services available to students. Maintain regular intentional communication with the designated campus point of contact. Service Delivery Use creativity to develop and provide services in Mental & Behavioral Health, Health & Human Services, Parental & Family Engagement, Academic Enhancement and Support, Attendance Engagement, and College & Career Readiness for high school campuses. Deliver enhanced service in line with established campus goals. Serve as case manager for each intensively served student with CIS parent consent. Complete thorough, individualized assessments for each case‑managed student. Make home visits to families and guardians, build relationships, and assist with referrals to needed resources. Provide transportation in a personal vehicle to students and/or their parents when required. Aim to deliver appropriate services to the required number of case‑managed students as identified by CIS administration. Coordinate and broker services to meet any student needs on campus (e.g., mental health, basic needs, medical care, school‑related needs). Intervene and serve as a resource during crisis events at campus or with families/students experiencing a crisis. Implement the required number of all school campus events related to campus goals. Build relationships with students and families using individual, group, and other school‑wide supports. Documentation Complete campus needs assessment and develop a School Support Plan each year. Complete thorough individualized initial assessments for each intensively served student before services begin. Document progress of case‑managed students’ attendance and grades during each grading period and reassess as needed. Ensure all documentation is current and that each student file is complete by the monthly data due date. Manage campus budgets, expenditure planning, in‑kind donations, volunteer reports, and data error reports as per monthly requirements. Professionalism, Development, and Training Maintain punctuality to agreed work hours on campus. Attend and participate professionally in required agency training and meetings. Pursue personal and professional development. Collaborate with the supervisor to complete an annual performance evaluation. Represent oneself positively and productively in the community, understanding one’s role as a CIS representative. Adhere to all CIS policies listed in the employee handbook. Perform other duties as required for the successful operation of CIS. Adhere to the required dress code as stated in the agency handbook. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the activities of any student interns, mentors, or other volunteers to ensure success in programming. Physical Demands and Work Environment This is a full‑time in‑person position located on a school campus. Workdays are generally Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day based on campus location start and end time. The position occasionally requires extended hours and possible weekend work. The ability to work in a fast‑paced group setting with students and faculty present is necessary. Travel Requirements Must be able to travel in a personal vehicle to and from students’ homes and other community areas to purchase supplies for programming and family needs. Monthly travel to staff meetings and other agency training courses and events will also be required. Requirements Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to use a computer for CIS documentation and communication. Team‑player attitude and a desire to work with at‑risk youth. Valid driver’s license and availability of a vehicle for use on the job, with current auto insurance policy. Pass a background/fingerprinting check with no criminal or child abuse/neglect history. Required Education Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, sociology, or a related field required for elementary campuses. Master’s degree in social work, counseling, sociology, or a related field required for secondary campuses. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience working in the social services field is preferred.
