Social Studies Teacher, South County Academy

Job Details Location: South County Academy – Exeter, RI 02822 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 4 Year Degree Salary Range: $60,683.96 – $80,001.50 Travel Percentage: Negligible Job Shift: Day Position Summary Responsible for delivering engaging social studies curriculum including American History, World History, literature, etc. to high school students with significant emotional/behavioral needs in a clinical residential school setting. Develop and monitor student Individual Education Programs (IEP) in accordance with Department of Education regulations and standards. Works collaboratively with the management team to ensure safety, stability and well‑being of students in our care who have been placed through the Department of Children, Youth and Families. This is a full-time (32 hours a week), 185 day position. The hours are 8:30AM‑3:00PM. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Teaching or Education RI certification as Teacher of regular or special education 3‑5 years teaching experience preferred Experience with children with behavioral/psychiatric challenges Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word‑processing, and database software programs Spanish speaking preferred and is compensated Excellent multitasking and communication skills a must Ability to work independently and as part of a team Bilingual/ASL skills are compensated by an additional 6% above base pay Multilingual skills are compensated by an additional 8% above base pay Candidates with a master’s degree will receive an additional $3,000 Physical Requirements Current driver's license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance Ability to communicate effectively Travel to and from community locations and office site, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators Ability to lift up to 20 lbs Provide emergency coverage; ratio to the programs as needed Ability to be trained in and implement de‑escalation techniques utilizing Handle with Care when necessary Equal Employment Opportunity Family Service of Rhode Island provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, or status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws. #J-18808-Ljbffr Family Service Of Rhode Island
