Salary Schedule: Related Service Provider (range $62,604 - $95,462 based on education and experience for the 2026-27 school year)
Work Calendar: Related Service Provider 182 day

Summary of Position:
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for implementing intervention and therapy regarding students' fine and gross motor skills and functional abilities (e.g. perceptual-motor, hand functions, motor coordination, sensory development, muscle strength, etc.) under the direction of the Special Education Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• To provide leadership for the Occupational Therapy program in alignment with department, division and district goals.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings.
• Management of therapy supply stock and equipment, including maintenance of large equipment, equipment database and maintaining constant inventory stock of day-to-day supplies.
• Work collaboratively with principals, Student Services' departments and staff, school staff, other district divisions and staff, as well as community groups and organizations.
• Utilize IEP Programs, Infinite Campus, and other District Programs as they relate to OT services.
• Engages in professional development to stay current on research-based instructional strategies.
• Observe and follow all Montrose County School District policies and procedures; maintain high levels of professionalism and commitment through punctuality and attendance.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Occupational Therapy
• Current Special Services Provider License from the Colorado Department of Education, with an endorsement in Occupational Therapy.
• Current appropriate DORA Licensure.

Experience:

• A minimum of 1 years of experience as a school-based occupational therapist.
• Experience with diverse populations, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and OT interventions that align with educational performance.

Knowledge of and Abilities:
Knowledge of:

• Principles of the organization.
• Principles, procedures, methods, techniques, strategies and understanding the importance relative to the OT Provider and serving as a role model and advocate for all students.
• The practice standards and ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in programming and intervention for students with disabilities that have education-based motor development concerns, as well as from culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

Ability to:

• Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Maintain complete and accurate records.
• Develop meaningful reports based upon data and use data analysis to make appropriate recommendations from them, when appropriate.

Physical Demands:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
Person performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work involves sitting but will involve walking or standing for brief periods. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.


Must have valid driver's license and be able to travel from site to site.
