Finance Manager Grants and Contracts

Organization: $200 Million Nonprofit Organization Compensation: $100k - $105k About the Opportunity A well-established and growing $200 million nonprofit organization , is seeking a Finance Manager of Grants & Contracts due to an internal promotion. Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Manager of Grants & Contracts will oversee the full post-award grant lifecycle for a diverse portfolio of government and private funding sources. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of grants management, financial analysis, budgeting, and supervisory experience. Key Responsibilities Manage the full post-award grants and contracts lifecycle from award setup through final closeout. Partner with program leadership and finance management to establish and maintain budgets for multiple programs and funding sources. Monitor and track grant expenditures to ensure compliance with funding requirements and approved budgets. Perform detailed budget-to-actual variance analysis and prepare explanations for material variances. Communicate regularly with Program Managers regarding spending trends, funding availability, potential overspending, and budget management strategies. Prepare and submit reimbursement requests, vouchers, and financial reports to government agencies and other funding sources. Prepare and process budget modifications and amendments throughout the grant period. Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and private grant regulations and reporting requirements. Review expenditures for allowability and proper allocation to funding sources. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including the preparation of revenue and expense accruals. Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure the accurate recording and classification of grant-related transactions. Prepare supporting schedules, documentation, and audit workpapers for external auditors and funding agency reviews. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance grant accounting and reporting efficiency. Supervise, mentor, and develop a staff of three accounting professionals. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing the entire post-award grant cycle . Strong experience with government grants, contracts, and reimbursement-based funding. Proven expertise in budgeting, variance analysis, financial reporting, and grant compliance. Experience preparing reimbursement requests and financial reports for funding agencies. Working knowledge of general accounting principles, including accruals, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
