We’ve come a long way, join us in the next step of our incredible journey!What are we looking forProduct Safety & Compliance & Validation is responsible for compliance, functional safety, validation and testing of ITM’s portfolio of electrolyser products.The Process Safety Manager will lead the Process Safety Team to ensure that ITM Power’s electrolyser product portfolio is functionally safe for use in the market segments in which they will be deployed and used by customers.You will be the technical safety authority, responsible for the management of hazard analysis studies including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA and the close-out, to time and budget, and necessary management of change (MOC) process where appropriate.Responsible for managing the Process Safety Team and managing, leading, co-ordinating, and supporting process safety risk assessment activities including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA. Develop ALARP principles and calculations to support LOPA assessments.ResponsibilitiesFacilitate, lead and participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA, Delegate and track progress through to completion of actions and recommendations, including chairing HAZOP LOPA close-out meetingsLead technical safety reviewsSupport creation of basis of safety documentationKnowledgeable in IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 with good understanding and / or application of all stages of the design cycle, i.e. analysis, design, implementation, operation and maintenanceLead in the development of a Functional Safety Management (FSM) plan, i.e. functional safety assessment (FSA) stages 1 through 5Leading and mentoring a small team of safety engineersConduct 6 monthly training and competence reviews of Product Safety TeamLead in the development of a process safety management framework(s)Creation / review of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) proof test proceduresProficient in Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) reviews – Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification calculationsImprove awareness of process / functional safety across the ITM business, i.e. through internal training, guidance and mentoring colleagues in Design & Engineering, Testing and other functionsCustomer liaison as appropriate and necessaryAbout YouKnowledge and ExperienceChemical / Electrical Engineering or other Engineering related degree. Either Chartered status or actively seeking it through a recognised organisation e.g. IChemE or similarMinimum of 5 years as a process / functional safety engineer in the hydrogen, chemicals or industrial gases industryCertified functional safety expert, i.e. FS Engineer (TÜV) or similar would be advantageousCertified and / or experienced in managing safety studies and chairing HAZOP and LOPA studiesHave essential gas (hydrogen and oxygen) expertiseHave knowledge and experience of explosive atmospheres (IEC 60079 and ATEX/DSEAR regulations)Have knowledge of hazardous area classification / consequence tools such as Phast, QuadventHave an understanding and experience of safety and compliance legislation in the UK and EUBe proficient in Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) reviews – Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification calculations in terms of reliability block diagrams (RBDs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) etc.Be a certified Functional Safety Engineer statusProject execution experienceHave essential gas (hydrogen, oxygen) expertiseHave knowledge of DSEAR, ATEX equipment and workplace Directives, and equivalent legislation and corresponding standards and industry codes of practice in the UK and EuropeHave significant experience of hazardous area classification and preparing DSEAR, ATEX, IEC Ex and equivalent safety casesDemonstrate an ability to work within a Quality Management system (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 45001)Knowledge of ISO 22734 electrolyser standard would be an advantageDemonstrate an ability to work to engineering best practice within a matrix organisationHave strong organisational and documentation skillsBe able to influence and guide working activities undertaken by cross functional teams to facilitate on time delivery of products and projectsAble to communicate clearly and effectively at various levels within ITM and with customers and regulatorsSkills and AbilitiesGood organisational skillsAbility to solve problems in a time and cost-effective mannerTime management of themselves and team membersGood written and verbal reporting skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels within ITM and to external parties as requiredAbility to work to tight and sometimes changing deadlinesBe able to influence and guide work activities to facilitate on time delivery of products and projectsAble to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels within ITM including to Executive board level and with customers and regulators as requiredWhat We OfferThe opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a rapidly growing industry, within a dynamic environment where you can shape the future of energy and work with a team that’s actively addressing global climate challenges.
