L'Auberge Provençale, an acclaimed boutique French country inn and destination dining restaurant in the Shenandoah Valley, has an immediate opening for a talented, hands‑on Sous Chef. Our culinary program spans from an elegant Chef’s Tasting Menu and a structured 4‑course prix fixe to a lively, casual tavern and bistro menu. We also host specialized wine dinners, bourbon tastings, and foraging classes. We are looking for an elite culinarian who can effortlessly pivot between high‑touch fine dining and high‑velocity bistro service, all while mentoring a close‑knit team of 7 cooks. Compensation: $60,000 – $75,000 (Based on experience) Benefits: Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Discounts Key Responsibilities Service Leadership: Direct daily BOH operations and run the pass during peak services across tasting, prix fixe, and tavern menus. Team Management: Mentor, schedule, and work side‑by‑side with a tight team of 7 cooks to maintain rigorous standards. Menu Collaboration: Partner with the Executive Chef on seasonal menu development, utilizing hyper‑local farm partnerships and foraged ingredients. Special Events: Help design and execute curated menus for wine dinners, bourbon tastings, and guest workshops. Kitchen Logistics: Manage inventory, ordering, food costs, and strict kitchen sanitation protocols. Qualifications Experience: 3+ years of experience in top‑tier, high‑volume fine dining establishments. Technique: Mastery of classical and modern French culinary techniques. Mindset: A strong passion for sustainable sourcing, wild foraging, and destination‑style hospitality. Leadership: Proven ability to inspire, train, and retain talent within a small, collaborative team.
