Electronic Payments Specialist

Pay Range: $19.36 - $25.81NBT Electronic Payments Specialist performs complex operational tasks related to processing and verifying wire and ACH transactions. Utilize technical expertise in the areas of wires and ACH to resolve escalated issues, supporting internal and external customer service. Apply advanced knowledge of policy, procedures, regulations, and law to wire and ACH processing ensuring accurate completion and compliance with all regulations and rules. Interpret and complete requests for establishing, maintaining and verifying services that enable customers to originate wire and ACH transactions. This role supports monetary transactions of a high-risk nature, which require significant focus on risk and fraud mitigation protocols.Utilizing developed analytical and problem-solving skills, provide advice to staff and collaborate with peers, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals. Activities directly impact customer accounts, bank reporting, and real time information. May prepare reports and furnish information to authorized persons within and external to the bank.Education and Experience:Associate's degree and 2 years experience required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.Professional experience preferredRelated experience preferredSkills and Abilities:Developed analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to follow procedures and interrogate data requiredStrong organizational skills requiredGood communication skills (written and oral) requiredComputer skills requiredAccounting skills preferredUnique Job Requirements & CharacteristicsAbility to deliver high-quality work in a friendly and fast-paced environmentAbility and willingness to learn new skillsTasks Performed:50% - Process a variety of electronic monetary transactions which may include but are not limited to: entering, approving, reviewing and releasing all incoming and outgoing domestic and foreign wires; establishing ACH Originators on core system and performing ACH transactions as needed; assisting Treasury Department with monitoring of FRB cash balance; and processing currency and coin orders for branch network.15% - Provide support to internal and/or external customers as well as department teammates, cross train on and provide coverage for other team duties as required.15% - Maintain proficient knowledge of and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to wire and ACH processing. Utilize independent judgment in resolving issues and escalate to management or risk areas as necessary. Ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls.
