Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in Hickory, NC, requiring 2+ years of ED experience and active ACLS, PALS/ENPC, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Work setting is a 32-bed Emergency Department within a 355-bed Duke Lifepoint hospital
• Patient population spans all ages (birth to death), including stroke, STEMI, and trauma cases
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
• Charting is done in Cerner
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 36 hours per week on a 13-week contract
• Rotating every other weekend required
• On-call may involve push-back hours depending on census
• Floating to other areas within demonstrated competencies may be required

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Current AHA certifications required: ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, preferably in a fast-paced ED setting
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• Candidates must reside 60+ miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate
• Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
• Cannot be employed full-time elsewhere

Additional Information

• The ED handles a high-acuity, fast-paced volume including strokes, STEMIs, and traumas, though the unit does not hold an official trauma designation
• Strong patient and family communication skills and critical care clinical thinking are essential for this role
• The broader facility includes a Brain Center, Cancer Center, Heart Center, and Level 3 NICU, among other specialized service lines
• Any color scrubs are acceptable; hoodies and inappropriate t-shirts are not permitted
• Holiday coverage expectations are not specified for this position
