School Nurse

HFM BOCES is seeking a compassionate, student-centered, and collaborative Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a shared School Nurse supporting both the HFM Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center and Adirondack Academy. Primary Responsibilities


The Registered Nurse will:

• Provide nursing services to students in accordance with New York State Education Department regulations, district policies, and professional nursing standards.
• Assess and respond to student health concerns, illnesses, injuries, and emergencies.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers and authorized by parents/guardians.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
• Collaborate with families, component school districts, healthcare providers, school counselors, teachers, administrators, and support staff to promote student health and wellness.
• Monitor and support students with chronic health conditions, disabilities, and specialized medical needs.
• Participate as appropriate in meetings related to student supports, including Section 504 Plans, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and health-related accommodations.
• Promote health education and wellness initiatives that support student success.
• Ensure compliance with state and local health requirements, including immunization and health screening regulations.
• Assist in developing and implementing health and safety protocols throughout the campus.
• Support emergency preparedness planning and response efforts.

Working with Career and Technical Education Students


This position offers a unique opportunity to support students preparing for careers in industries such as healthcare, skilled trades, manufacturing, public safety, education, technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, and more.

• Develop positive relationships with CTE students across a variety of career programs.
• Support students in hands-on learning environments where safety, wellness, and attendance are critical to success.
• Collaborate with instructors to help students access learning opportunities while managing health-related needs.
• Assist students in developing self-advocacy and health management skills that will benefit them in both educational and workplace settings.
• Contribute to a safe and healthy learning environment that prepares students for future careers and lifelong success.

TEACH Clearance


Per the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required.
