This is an in-person position that may provide services in-person or via telehealth. Therapists work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and their clients may also receive skills training, case management, SUD treatment services, and medication management from other Morrison providers. The therapist’s caseload size is dependent on their program (clinic, community-based, or school-based) and on the level of need (level of care) and engagement of each client on their caseload. This school-based therapist role is a 10-month position that follows Portland Public Schools (PPS) Academic Calendar. Therapists provide mental health services to PPS students onsite at two PPS schools. Currently hiring for Whitman & Woodmere Elementary Schools. In-house licensure supervision is provided for LCSW, LPC & LMFT! Duties and Responsibilities: Provides mental health services for students of identified schools, and their families: assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual, and family therapy. Provides case management, crisis support, safety planning, coordination of care, referrals to ancillary and/or specialty services, and group therapy, as needed. Completes all clinical documentation in accordance with state, federal and organizational requirements, emphasizing collaborative documentation. Abides by the appropriate code of ethics and follows all of Morrison’s policies and procedures. Is present and punctual for work, supervision, and/or meetings. Works well within a team environment, sharing workload, credit, and opportunities. Completes other duties as assigned to ensure successful operation of program or department. Demonstrate a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices. Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to workplace effectiveness; model professional behaviors and implement improvements to business practices with awareness of their impact in a trauma-informed behavioral healthcare organization. Is aware of Morrison Compliance Program including Compliance Officer, Compliance Standards of Conduct, and Employee Compliance Hotline. Understands Compliance Standards of Conduct and signs attestation document. Completes all assigned compliance, HIPAA, client privacy, and fraud, waste, and abuse training. Knows how to report any client privacy or fraud, waste, or abuse concerns. Competencies: Assessment and Diagnostic Skills: Training and knowledge in assessing and diagnosing mental health conditions in children using standardized tools and clinical judgment as evidenced by graduate program transcript and completion of Intake and Assessment training. Treatment Planning: Skill in collaboratively identifying measurable goals/objectives for treatment as evidenced by completion of the treatment planning training, supervisor observation, and supervisor review of clinical documentation. Basic Counseling Skills: Training and knowledge of basic counseling skills including active listening, being aware of nonverbal communication, and building rapport as evidenced by graduate program transcript. Privacy and Confidentiality: Understanding HIPAA and ensuring client confidentiality and privacy as evidenced by completion of Orientation Part II. Suicide Prevention and Intervention: Demonstrates knowledge and skill in screening for suicide risk, conducting suicide risk assessments, and effectively triaging as evidenced by completion of Suicide Prevention and Intervention training and supervisor review of documentation. Crisis Intervention and Management: Demonstrates sufficient knowledge to support clients experiencing a mental health crisis including de-escalation techniques and facilitating access to appropriate crisis services as evidenced by completion of crisis intervention policy/procedure training, completion of de-escalation training, and supervisor review of clinical documentation. Mandatory Reporting: Understands and complies with mandatory reporting requirements. Uses developmentally appropriate and trauma informed approach to follow agency protocol for mandatory reporting as evidenced by completion of mandatory reporting training and supervisor review of clinical documentation. Required Position Qualifications: Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field Experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health, social services, educational, or other related setting. Preferred Position Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish, both written and spoken. Must clear a language proficiency test for Spanish. Current Oregon or other state behavioral health license Two years direct treatment experience with children and/or adolescents in a mental health setting Other Requirements: Pass a DHS (Department of Human Services) criminal history background If driving for position, must meet agency driving requirement If bilingual, must pass language proficiency testing Working Conditions: Environment : Work is done in clinical offices, community settings, including Morrison Residential, administration buildings, public locations, and social service sites. Breaks and meals are subject to interruption. Universal Precautions and remaining alert to the environment are critical to address the potential for violent behavior, exposure to disease, biohazards, noise, and contaminants. Mental demands : Work assigned is diverse and may involve addressing new and unique circumstances. The work might be unpredictable and disrupts planned tasks, requiring flexible time management. Physical demands : Ability to remain calm and emotionally available serving youth, adults and or families who have experienced trauma. Proficient with office equipment and physical movement. Ability to perform physical interventions if needed in accordance with program and training. Physical dexterity for reaching, stooping, and repetitive wrist and hand motions.
