Job Title: Emergency Department RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ER Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years preferred; will consider 1.5 years with Level 1 trauma experience License: New Mexico license can be pending at the time of submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (must have TNCC prior to submission) Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience preferred Description: Travelers should expect their assignments to include primarily admitted patients. No certifications from required quality improvement programs are accepted. Approximately 60%-80% of the emergency department consists of admitted patients, with many rooms designated for holding. Medication administration, including intravenous medication, will be part of the role. Documentation and communication of clinical findings are essential. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5. Some weekend scheduling will be required. Travelers will be assigned to weekends as needed. Weekend days are defined as Saturday and Sunday, while weekend nights include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Travelers are expected to float within the scope of the department to meet facility needs, including floating to adult patient care units as necessary. There is a potential for floating to holding areas and trauma units based on staffing needs. Travel experience is strongly preferred, although first-time travelers may be accepted if they meet experience requirements. A background in trauma and resuscitation is preferred for this role. Special procedures and interdisciplinary support are available in the department. All employees are expected to use bar code medication scanning. Candidates with essential skills in arterial line management and blood product administration will be considered. A strong comfort level with care of ventilated patients and managing central lines is necessary. Travelers must undertake drug screening as part of compliance requirements prior to starting.
