Machine Operator – Metal Manufacturing

Location: Elgin, IL
Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
Pay: $19.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience
Employment Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire

Job Summary

We are seeking a Machine Operator to join a growing metal manufacturing company in Elgin, IL. The ideal candidate will have manufacturing experience and be comfortable operating production machinery, performing quality inspections, and following safety and production procedures. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a long-term position with potential for permanent hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Set up and adjust machines according to production requirements.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished products.
• Operate equipment such as grinding machines, saws, and other metal-processing machinery .
• Perform routine machine adjustments to maintain production quality and efficiency.
• Inspect parts and finished products for defects and verify dimensions using basic measuring tools.
• Read and follow work instructions, production orders, and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and notify maintenance or supervisors of equipment issues.
• Follow all company safety, quality, and production requirements.
• Lift and move materials as required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Machine Operator, Production Worker, or Manufacturing Associate preferred.
• Experience working in a metal manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Experience operating saws, grinders, or similar industrial machinery preferred.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions.
• Basic understanding of measurements and quality inspection.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work 2nd shift Monday–Friday.
