Medical Office Specialist - PT Varies - OP Ortho & Sport Therapy - 11014The Medical Office Specialist is a key member of the Physician Practice and provides clinical/administrative expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. Team members are responsible to answer phones, register patients, verify insurance and help with billing using their best customer service skills.Position Education/Qualifications:High School/GED requiredExcellent customer service skillsComputer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suiteGood written and verbal communication skills requiredBilingual – English/Spanish, requiredJob Knowledge/Experience:Minimum of one (1) year receptionist experience requiredPrevious experience in a high volume medical office setting is preferredMedical terminology experience/education, preferredResponsibilities:Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practiceOutpatient rehabilitation evaluation, re-evaluation, and treatment pre-authorization, management and tracking of treatment authorization date frames and applicable CPT codesWorking front desk, greet patients and visitors; be courteous, polite and helpful to the public, patients and clients at all times when representing the practice, providing excellent customer service.Respect and maintain privacy and dignity of patients; assure confidentiality at all timesAbility to answer and direct all phone calls appropriately received in a busy office practice maintaining the customer service skills as set forth by the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health SystemAbility to take accurate and understandable messages and route them to the appropriate party as necessaryMake appointments for new and established patientsNote cancelled and rescheduled appointments through prescribed protocols set up by the office, and documented in the EMRFile faxed/scanned information in charts for review by provider, if neededWorking at the reception desk, checking patients both in and out of the practice as needed, and properly documenting registrationCommunicating with patients and providersScheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patient appointmentsReminding patients of upcoming appointments and tracking missed appointmentsForwarding telephone calls appropriately and following up on return callsInsurance verification and verification of patient demographicsRetrieving and filing of medical records and delivering to appropriate providers as neededWeekly statistical reporting for ManagerOther copying, filing, scanning and faxing dutiesCollecting co-pays and cash from patients, getting authorization on credit cardsEntering charges, payments, and daily balancing, as neededPrepare and scan packets needed for billing company as neededParticipates in infection control, departmental training equipment training and organizational CQI activitiesOther duties as assignedLines of Responsibilities:(Chain-of-command)1.
