Staff Perfusionist - Full-time (with on-call rotation) - Jeff. Hwy. - New Orleans

Job Overview This perfusion position conducts adult cardiopulmonary bypass, provides ventricular assist support, provides Intra Aortic Balloon Pump support, and conducts ExtraCorporeal Membrane Oxygenation. It may also be required to perform auto transfusion, physiological monitoring, hemofiltration including acute dialysis, and operate various blood analyzers. Scope of Practice Supports a wide range of services including cardiopulmonary bypass procedures, ECMO, LVAD insertion and monitoring (Heartmate II/III, TandemHeart, Impella), intra‑aortic balloon pumps, HIPEC, and thoracic transplants. The department is the only LVAD and thoracic transplant center in the state. Education Completion of a formal training program in Extracorporeal Technology. Work Experience No minimum experience required. Preferred: 2 years of experience. Strong new graduates will be considered. Certifications Certified, or eligible for certification, by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. Current state license as a Perfusionist by the Louisiana State Board of Medical. Ability to obtain a state license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Computer skills for data entry and information retrieval. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly. Proficiency with Windows applications and role‑specific software. Strong interpersonal skills. Team collaboration to deliver patient care and exercise clinical judgment. Calm work in high‑pressure situations. Knowledgeable with life support devices. Flexible schedule, including on‑call rotations and responding to callbacks within 45 minutes. Job Duties Conduct cardiopulmonary bypass and other mechanical circulatory support procedures. Follow departmental compliance standards. Maintain and develop technical and clinical skills. Adapt to changes in technology and work environment constructively. Assist with day‑to‑day department operations: training new employees, working on projects, educating perfusion students. Adapt behavior to specific patient population; respect privacy and communication style. Other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands Frequent exertion of 10–20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally up to 100 pounds. Exposures to hazardous medications or waste in healthcare setting.
