Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor assists in assignment of work according to production schedules and works with other departments in the company to achieve required daily results. This individual will perform a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction via timely deliveries of high-quality products. The Supervisor must have an understanding of priorities and the ability to guide department personnel required to complete the tasks. In addition, the incumbent also performs the duties and tasks of an operator or technician is the assigned work area as needed.

Group Leader Responsibilities:

• Schedules work assignments to ensure department's workflow is according to production schedule.
• Monitors the day-to-day quality of the department.
• Assists operators in troubleshooting equipment or process problems.
• Works in conjunction with Planners, Operations Manager, other Supervisors, and Sr. Director, Operations to schedule production and manages department's workflow according to production schedule.
• Conducts training and ensures team members are trained on equipment and procedures; identifies training requirements and initiates development opportunities.
• Assists in improving manufacturing processes and yields, identifying process improvements.
• Verifies correct procedures, specifications and drawings are available to operators for work orders, requests deviations or revisions as necessary.
• Completes work order routers and other documentation necessary for production.
• Controls inventory storage and movement through department, where applicable.
• Reviews job files after completion and works with Supervisor and Quality Assurance to maintain integrity of central file requirements.
• Maintains and updates required ERP information relative to Time and Attendance, Inventory, lots, counts, production orders, etc.
• Acts as an SME resource for questions.
• Works closely with Supervisor/Manufacturing Engineers/Quality Engineers to establish product quality standards; assists with investigating and responding to Customer complaint or quality concerns/ Corrective Action Requests; reports incidents to Quality Assurance.
• Assists in writing protocols, specifications and procedures as needed.
• Assists with verifications, qualifications, and validations of new / improved processes – validations, including equipment installation, operation and performance.
• Ensures all routine and Preventive Maintenance (PM) is performed and documented through PM system, as required.
• Works with Business Development and Product Engineering on new programs and processing issues, including product transfers into Production.
• May operate and repair equipment in accordance with training requirements.
• Ensures environmental room requirements are maintained.
• Ensures adequate equipment cleaning and housekeeping requirements are performed.
• Ensure required supplies are ordered and available.
• Participates in interviewing, hiring, evaluating proficiencies and appraising job performance.
• May interface with customers and suppliers to provide technical support.
• Serves as back up to supervisor during absences to ensue workflow and schedules are met.

MCF Responsibilities:

• Inspects and measures product, either visually or through microscopes, to measure and record fabric characterization such as Ends per Inch (EPI), Pics per Inch (PPI), Courses per Inch (CPI), width, diameter, thickness, etc.
• Inspects product for defects and contamination, according to Work Instructions (WI), Visual Inspection Criteria, SOP's, and internal specifications.
• Records and communicates test results manually and/or electronically
• Utilizes a variety of testing equipment including, but not limited to optical comparator, hot knife equipment, microscopes, and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) technology
• Performs various additional types of medical component processes such as scouring, heat setting, sewing, skeining, coiling, kitting, heat pressing, etc. as needed.
• Enters information and uses ERP system to report quantities and time spent on jobs

Who you are:

High School Diploma or equivalent 5 - 8 years related experience in technical or medical products environment required. Textile experience preferred. Must be fully trained in all critical aspects of the department including quality documentation, production documentation, and safe equipment operation. Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and management. Must be able to hand off the status of jobs to overlapping shifts. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to read and comprehend documents such as work instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, internal specifications, and procedure manuals. Possess basic mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic understanding of good manufacturing practices and working within regulated industries. Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to get along well with others and work in a team environment. Considerable knowledge of departmental manufacturing processes. Ability to properly complete paperwork as required according to work instructions, standards, or other specifications. Excellent dependability and reliability. Organized and detail oriented. Meticulous attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with various levels of the organization. Basic computer skills and ability to use MS Office for email. Familiarity with an ERP system preferred.
