Must-Have: Board Certified in Geriatrics (Fellowship-trained) or Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine highly preferred.


Description:
An excellent full-time employment opportunity exists for a Board Certified Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with Fellowship training or Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine to become Medical Director of a PACE program.
The Medical Director will provide general medical direction and supervision of the medical aspects of participant care.
The role includes responsibility for the delivery of participant care, clinical outcomes, and oversight of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement program.
The Medical Director will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of medical policies, procedures, standards, and protocols.
In this position, direction and supervision will be provided to related Primary Care Providers and Advanced Practice Providers.
Leadership and guidance will be given to program colleagues and providers in the local community.
A valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and means of transportation are required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) as well as basic knowledge of email, calendaring systems, and other required software is necessary.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent organizational, customer service, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to travel within the region periodically as needed is essential.
The Medical Director will conduct history and physical examinations on new participants, conduct event-based and periodic reassessments, and develop medical treatment plans.
Discussions regarding each participant's medical conditions and prognosis with them and their caregivers will assist in formulating future care plans.
This position involves execution of assignments in a collaborative culture across all divisions.
Collaboration in the nursing treatment program of participants is required.
Establishing and/or maintaining a plan to achieve operating goals as a member of the leadership team is part of the role.
Participation as an active member of the interdisciplinary team is expected.
The Medical Director will educate and advise the team regarding diagnoses, cognitive and physical function, and treatment options.
Participation in team and family conferences and decision-making processes is essential.
Educating participants and families about health maintenance and chronic medical conditions will be carried out in cooperation with nursing staff.
The Medical Director will supervise the healthcare and treatment program developed by the interdisciplinary team.
Effective skills in physical assessment and chronic disease management for frail older adults are necessary.
The candidate should have a desire to work in a creative, alternate healthcare setting.
The ability to manage changing priorities based on participant needs is paramount.
Participation in provider on-call rotation as required is expected.
Previous supervisory experience is required.
The candidate must not require visa support.
