Job Description

This role supports daily food service operations in a busy kitchen and cafeteria setting. You prepare and serve food, maintain a clean and safe work area, and provide friendly customer service to students, faculty, and staff. You work as part of a large, collaborative team to ensure high-quality meals, efficient service, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform sanitation tasks.
• Weigh and measure designated ingredients according to recipes and production standards.
• Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stoves, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds safely and repeatedly during a shift.
• Ability to stand on your feet for the entire shift in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in foodservice, such as working in a kitchen, cafeteria, or similar environment.

Work Environment

You work in a kitchen and cafeteria setting. The team includes more than 200 employees, with many part-time workers and a core group of approximately 40 full-time staff. The culture emphasizes teamwork and flexibility, with staff helping one another when some stations are busier than others. The environment is fast-paced and active, requiring extended periods of standing and frequent lifting and carrying of food items and equipment. Schedules are highly flexible, with both full-time and part-time options and shift times available throughout the day. The dress code includes slip-resistant shoes, long pants, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt, avoiding overly loose clothing to support safety and professionalism.

The pay range for this position is $17.55 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
