Responsibilities Portfolio management Managing outside counsel for strategic preparation and prosecution of patent assets Drafting responses to official communications Interviewing patent examiners Performing patent analyses including infringement, clearance, patentability, and validity analyses Collaborating with counsel across multiple jurisdictions to ensure compliance with local jurisdictional practices and laws Participating in design‑around analysis License and contract analysis Performing due diligence analysis for potential acquisitions and investments Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent 5+ years of relevant experience as counsel at a law firm or in‑house Active bar license to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be practicing (or ability to obtain upon hiring) Preferred Qualifications Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field 5+ years of patent law experience at a law firm or in‑house 3+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution 2+ years of engineering experience in software, electrical, communications, or related fields 2+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in software, electrical, communications, or related fields 2+ years of managing a portfolio, including budgets US: Admitted to a state bar and in good standing 2+ years of experience in patent preparation, prosecution, or litigation experience Applicants must be willing to register as in‑house counsel with CA state bar if not already a member of Cal state bar Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
