Clinical Research Unit Manager

Job Title: Clinical Research Unit Manager Location: Fort Worth, Texas | Type: Staff Summary The Texas A&M AgriLife Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture (IHA), the world’s first academic institute to integrate precision nutrition, responsive agriculture, and social & behavioral research, seeks a Clinical Research Unit Manager. The manager will report to the Clinical Program Director and oversee all research activities at the Fort Worth LEB/RIB Clinic. Responsibilities Clinical Management/Oversight Determine feasibility of proposed clinical research studies and assist Principal Investigators (PIs) with logistics. Specify staffing, equipment, and supply needs; maintain inventory and compliance with expiration, temperature, and storage requirements. Ensure all clinical activities comply with TAMU system, state, and federal regulations, including IRB, EH&S, CLIA Waiver, and HIPAA. Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for clinical and non‑clinical procedures. Supervise clinical staff (to be hired) and maintain necessary licensures and trainings. Coordinate with the Clinical Program Director to identify abnormal research participant results and refer for follow‑up. Research Data Collection Conduct participant visits following study protocols, performing phlebotomy, finger‑stick tests, vital signs, anthropometrics, body composition, sample collection (urine, stool, saliva, hair, blood), and specialized assessments (e.g., liver scanning, skin carotenoid). Document findings, maintain confidentiality, and report adverse events to the study team. Administrative Oversee all LEB/RIB Clinic operations, scheduling, and workflow to maximize efficiency. Serve as the primary point of contact with internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining relationships. Assist in developing strategic plans, program goals, and supporting materials. Supervise program support staff and student assistants as needed. Prepare vouchers, purchase orders, requisitions; develop and monitor annual budgets and financial reports. Resolve complex, sensitive administrative matters and recommend process improvements. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master’s degree in nursing or related field, plus one year of related experience. Preferred: Five years of related clinical experience, three years of clinical management, and three years of supervisory experience. Experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) and with human research participants, including pregnant participants. Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or licensed Registered Nurse (RN). CPR certification and completion of required clinical training (e.g., Citi Training). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and related office software. Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer‑service skills. Leadership, organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and exercise sound judgment. Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Understanding of research project goals and ability to develop protocols with faculty and staff. Experience leading or supervising personnel and managing clinical and operational functions. Strong confidentiality practices and professional demeanor. Other Preferred Qualifications Bilingual (English/Spanish) advantage. GCP certification and Citi Training certificate. Financial acumen: budgeting, financial reporting, and rate establishment. Experience creating and implementing Standard Operating Procedures. All positions are security‑sensitive.
