Job Title: Fitter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled fitter to expertly fabricate silencers, pressure vessels, and large valves, primarily using carbon steel. The role involves fitting vessels, pipes, and shells together, attaching lifting supports and legs onto rolled plates, and fitting weld caps onto pipes. Additionally, you will fit up flanges and nozzles onto materials, burn holes out, clean them up, and ensure proper alignment through beveling and squaring. You will need to read blueprints, perform basic math, and do light welding using MIG and flux methods. Familiarity with fabrication machines such as presses, punches, saws, and torches is essential.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate silencers, pressure vessels, and large valves using primarily carbon steel.

• Perform fitting of vessels, pipes, and shells together.

• Attach lifting supports and legs onto rolled plates.

• Fit weld caps onto pipes and flanges and nozzles onto materials.

• Burn holes out, clean them up, bevel, and square up materials.

• Read and interpret blueprints and perform basic math calculations.

• Perform light welding tasks using MIG and flux methods.

• Operate fabrication machines such as presses, punches, saws, torches, etc.

Essential Skills

• 5 years of fitting/fabricating experience.

• Ability to fit vessels and pipes.

• Proficient in reading blueprints.

• Experience in welding using MIG, flux, and plasma torch.

• Knowledge of fabrication, pipe fitting, and vessel fitting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with various gauges of material.

• Ability to use fabrication machines.

Work Environment

Work in a clean, air-conditioned shop with shifts from 6 pm to 6 am, Monday through Friday, and most Saturdays and Sundays. Be prepared for a busy schedule with potential 13-day workweeks. This is an open-ended contract position with work expected through the end of the year and likely longer.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
