Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities of the organization. This position will be responsible for general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, and financial analysis.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger Accounting

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting documentation
• Review financial transactions for accuracy and proper account classification
• Assist with maintaining the chart of accounts
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies

Month-End & Year-End Close

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Analyze account balances and investigate unusual variances
• Ensure assigned close responsibilities are completed accurately and within established deadlines
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports

Account Reconciliations

• Perform bank, cash, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations
• Identify and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
• Maintain detailed documentation to support account balances
• Assist with intercompany account reconciliations and transactions

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports
• Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for significant fluctuations
• Prepare financial schedules and reports for management
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Support

• Provide accounting support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
• Assist with reviewing invoices, payments, and customer transactions
• Research and resolve vendor or customer account discrepancies
• Support cash application and payment reconciliation activities as needed

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
• Assist with accounting system implementations, upgrades, and testing
• Support automation and reporting improvement initiatives
• Participate in special accounting and finance projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• 1–5 years of accounting or related financial experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
• Experience with ERP or accounting software preferred
