Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Acute - Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years Telemetry experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma experience. Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Competence in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Natural hair color and no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing. Description: The unit requires nurses with Level 1 trauma experience. Nurses are required to have a minimum of two years of telemetry experience. The unit focuses on trauma, orthopedic, and surgical patients. Common patient diagnoses include transplants, Whipple procedures, and orthopedic surgeries. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 to 1:5. The charge nurse does not take patients. Teams are expected to float as needed to medical/surgical floors. Nurses will participate in educational activities such as lifts, restraints, and wound care. A large volume of transplant and Whipple cases is anticipated. Nurses may be required to work holidays as part of the staff rotation. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system.
