Event Manager, Planning + Outreach

The Foundation for Teaching Economics (FTE) is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional to join our team as Manager, Planning + Outreach. This full-time position plays a key role in supporting the planning, logistics, and marketing of FTE’s portfolio of residential and virtual programs for high school students and teachers nationwide. As part of a small, collaborative team, you’ll gain hands‑on experience across all phases of nonprofit program delivery – from coordinating university partnerships and managing student logistics to supporting outreach, communications and enrollment efforts. This role is ideal for a self‑motivated professional who is eager to grow a career in program management, education, or marketing, and who thrives in a mission‑driven environment. The Manager will report to the Senior Director, Planning + Outreach and work closely with colleagues across departments. Prior experience with youth‑focused programs or educational events is helpful but not required. Key Responsibilities Program Planning + Logistics Coordinate housing, classroom space, meals and AV needs with university and venue partners Research and plan off‑site excursions for student groups across the country—balancing budget, safety, and educational value Assist with program budgeting, check requests and invoice tracking Support on‑site logistics and staff needs during programs (shipping materials, preparing supplies, documentation, etc.) Provide operational support during programs, ensuring smooth execution for students, faculty, and staff Marketing + Communications Serve as a primary contact for program participants and their families, managing communications from enrollment through program completion Support marketing and outreach efforts for student and teacher programs, including email campaigns, website updates and promotional materials Write and edit copy for blog posts, program materials, and web/print publications Collaborate on marketing campaigns to drive program awareness, enrollment and engagement Track and organize outreach efforts, and assist with maintaining CRM systems Office + Administrative Support Assist with front‑line communications by answering phones and responding to general inquiries Support staff with administrative tasks, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventories Assist with organization‑wide logistics, including shipping and materials managementContribute to cross‑team projects and provide support where needed Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of experience in event coordination, marketing, or program support (internships or part‑time roles with significant responsibility considered) Strong writing and communication skills; experience with marketing or copywriting preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, CMS platforms, or CRM tools a plus Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail Ability to manage competing deadlines in a dynamic environment Collaborative mindset with a willingness to take initiative and solve problems Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered Interest in economics, education, or nonprofit work aligned with FTE’s mission Personal Attributes We’re looking for someone who is: Highly organized and adaptable Detail‑oriented while keeping the bigger picture in mind Responsive to feedback and eager to learn Comfortable working independently and collaboratively Positive, resourceful, and solution‑oriented Location: Davis, California (hybrid work schedule available after six months) Status: Full‑time, non‑exempt Occasional evening or weekend work required during peak programming periods Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods during events Smoke, tobacco and drug‑free workplace Compensation Salary range: $60,000–$65,000 annually depending on experience To Apply Please email your resume and cover letter to View email address on click.appcast.io with the subject line Manager, Planning + Outreach Application.
