Job Title: Free Standing ER Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (1:00 PM - 1:00 AM) Experience: 1 Year Required License: South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact State RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Required. NRP, TNCC Preferred. Must-Have: General Emergency Experience (Adult/Pedi) Epic Charting Experience Description: Position available for a registered nurse in a free-standing emergency room. Shift requirements are 3 shifts of 12 hours each, from 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM. The nurse-to-patient ratios are between 1:5 to 1:7. Every other weekend is required for staffing. There is no on-call requirement. Float to other facilities may be necessary based on unit needs. First-time travelers are accepted. Experience in managing patients with CVA is essential. Behavioral health experience is also necessary. Travelers must be aware of potential assignments to emergency response teams during hurricane season, which runs from June through November. This position requires attendance and participation in emergency response preparedness activities. All requests for time off must be communicated at the time of submission. Facilitys may call off one shift every two weeks. The patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. An average daily census is approximately 50 patients with around 50 visits per day. The emergency department is equipped with 15 rooms and 14 beds. Interdisciplinary support is available with interpretation services and radiology. The position emphasizes handling a wide range of medical conditions and emergencies, including respiratory infections, seizures, and treatment of multi-system organ dysfunction. The nurse will be responsible for triaging emergencies, managing patient care protocols, and administering emergency medications. Phlebotomy and IV management skills are required for this role. Experience with procedural sedation and care for ventilated patients is also expected. Candidates must be skilled in identifying and reporting neglect or abuse and managing behavioral health crises. Overall, this position is critical for providing effective care in high-paced emergency situations.
