Sr Domain Sales Engineer (Supply Chain)

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Senior Domain Sales Engineer – Cloud & Applications (Supply Chain) is a hybrid domain expert, technologist, and pre-sales solution professional who works directly with clients to shape, design, and validate supply chain technology solutions before they are sold and delivered. DSEs translate complex operational problems into practical, scoped, and implementable solutions — and de-risk deals by demonstrating feasibility early.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Domain-Led Consulting

• Bring deep supply chain domain expertise — plan, source, make, deliver — into solution design
• Map client operational processes, ERP and execution systems, and physical constraints into technical solutions
• Identify transformation opportunities aligned to business KPIs such as OTIF, inventory turns, cost-to-serve, and forecast accuracy
• Build credibility with client stakeholders from plant and distribution-center operators to supply chain executives
• Advise on the sequencing of ERP modernization, execution-system change, and cloud platform investment

Pre-Sales / Sales

• Partner with account teams to shape opportunities early / proactive business development
• Translate client problems into clear, differentiated solution approaches
• Lead technical scoping, architecture definition, and solution design
• Create POCs, demos, or pilot solutions — control-tower prototypes, integration accelerators, migration assessments — to prove feasibility and value
• Support proposal development, pricing inputs, and deal strategy
• Build defensible estimates for application modernization and cloud migration work, including run-cost modeling

Cloud & Application Architecture / Hands-on Engineering

• Rapidly prototype integrations, workflows, or data pipelines between ERP, execution systems, and cloud services
• Work across cloud, data, API, and AI/ML domains as needed
• Ensure solutions are implementable, scalable, and production-ready — and resilient enough for operations that cannot stop
• Ensure clean handoff from pre-sales to delivery and application-managed-services teams
• Provide architectural guardrails, reference patterns, and context for execution teams
• In some cases, stay engaged in early delivery phases to stabilize outcomes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Domain Expertise

The ideal candidate is a technologist in cloud, applications, integration, and AI/ML, with deep expertise in supply chain within Manufacturing and/or Retail / Consumer, bringing both architecture knowledge and hands-on industry process experience across:

• Supply Chain Processes — Hands-on experience across demand and supply planning, S&OP/IBP, procurement and sourcing, manufacturing execution, inventory and warehouse management, transportation and logistics, and order fulfillment.
• Enterprise Applications — Working command of at least one major ERP or supply chain suite — SAP (ECC/S4HANA, IBP, EWM, TM), Oracle (EBS, Fusion SCM), Microsoft Dynamics 365, Blue Yonder, o9, Kinaxis, Manhattan or similar — including how the standard process flows and extension points actually behave.
• Cloud Platforms & Engineering — Practical depth in one or more of Azure, AWS, or GCP — landing zones, containers and Kubernetes, serverless, IaC (Terraform, Bicep), CI/CD, observability, and cost management.
• Integration & Interoperability — Solid knowledge of integrating ERP with WMS, TMS, MES, supplier portals, and 3PL/carrier networks — API and event-driven patterns, middleware (MuleSoft, Boomi, SAP PI/PO, Azure Integration Services), EDI/B2B standards, and idempotent, replayable interfaces for transactional flows.
• Supply Chain Data Architecture — Understanding how order, inventory, shipment, and production data flows from operational systems into data platforms and analytics environments in a cloud-native architecture; familiarity with real-time telemetry from IoT, shop-floor, and logistics sources.

Pre-Sales / Sales

5+ Years of experience in:

• Customer-facing Solution Engineering
• Technical consulting or product engineering
• Experience with rapid-prototyping or accelerators for deals
• Selling through differentiated technical solutioning

Cloud & Application Architecture / Hands-on Engineering

Strong hands-on experience in:

• Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• APIs, microservices, integration patterns, and application modernization
• Data platforms (ETL, streaming, analytics); platform engineering and legacy modernization
• Application development and extension frameworks relevant to the chosen ERP or SCM suite

Working knowledge of:

• AI/ML / GenAI use cases (not theoretical — applied understanding), such as demand sensing, exception triage, and document automation
• Modern architecture patterns (event-driven, distributed systems)
• DevOps practices — CI/CD, testing, environment and release management across application landscapes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 12+ years of technical and domain experience
• Experience in consulting firms
• Prior experience in forward-deployed roles
• Exposure to regulated industries or complex legacy environments (on-premise ERP, custom-built execution systems, plant-floor technology)
• Experience leading ERP migrations, S/4HANA transitions, or application portfolio rationalization
• Experience operationalizing AI use cases (not just building POCs)
• Exposure to human-in-the-loop systems, compliance workflows, and traceability or serialization requirements
• Experience with Agent lifecycle management and agentic ecosystem governance
• Demonstrated problem-solving mindset with strong thought leadership and execution; able to structure ambiguous problems and drive solutions from concept to production across complex stakeholder environments
