Location: Saint Lawrence – Gouverneur Hospital, 77 W Barney St, Gouverneur, NY 13642

Shift: Day Shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Summary

Saint Lawrence – Gouverneur Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse – House Supervisor. The position requires at least 1 year of experience, specifically House Supervisor or RN Manager experience. Travel experience is required. The House Supervisor will support hospital operations, bed management, emergency response, nursing supervision, patient transfers, admissions, and coordination of patient care across the facility.

Responsibilities / Duties

Provide House Supervisor coverage and nursing leadership.

Supervise nursing care delivered throughout the facility.

Manage hospital beds and patient placement.

Coordinate new admissions.

Support post-surgical and post-procedure patient care.

Coordinate transfers to a higher level of care.

Manage facility bed/diversion activities.

Respond to emergency situations and support the Rapid Response Team.

Participate in crisis intervention and management.

Monitor and report sentinel events.

Address legal and regulatory aspects of patient care.

Support discharge processes, including patients leaving Against Medical Advice (AMA).

Coordinate patient care involving multiple departments and services.

Support infection control and isolation procedures.

Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including DPH, The Joint Commission (TJC), and OSHA requirements.

Promote workplace safety.

Provide customer service to patients, families, and staff.

Support facility operations and nursing management activities.

Daily Census: 19

Number of Beds: 25

Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend

Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 request

Orientation: 24 hours

Interdisciplinary Support: Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Unit Secretary

Patient Diagnoses: CHF, Pneumonia, dysrhythmias, COPD, ETOH withdrawal, Opiate withdrawal, debility

Special Procedures/Unit Details: Scattered bed unit serving surgical, bed, detox, and medical patients.

Special Equipment: Bariatric equipment rented when needed.

Scheduling

3x12-hour Day Shift.

7:00 AM–7:00 PM.

Every other weekend coverage.

Scheduling type: Self.

Additional Requirements

RTO: Candidates with more than 10 days of RTO cannot be submitted.

Candidates may be submitted to up to 2 jobs within the system; multiple submissions are allowed.

Required experience: 1 year.

New York State RN license must be in hand for submission.

Candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted.

Candidates must be comfortable floating.

EPIC experience is a hard requirement.

Background policy is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Return staff policy requires a 6-month system-wide break before returning.

SSN and DOB are required.

Account manager must be notified at the time of submission if the traveler has any foreign education that will need verification.

Modules are billable for up to 5 hours. Total module time may reach 10 hours; any time in excess of 5 hours is non-billable.

Modules are completed pre-start and vary by specialty.

Module hours are recorded via facility report.
