Position Overview:
A leading insurance organization is seeking a strategic and experienced Corporate Tax Directorto lead its corporate tax function. This individual will oversee all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and operational processes, managing a team of 10 professionals. The ideal candidate brings 15+ years of corporate tax experience within the insurance industry and a strong track record of leadership, process improvement, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the corporate tax function, including federal, state, and local compliance
- Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision processes under U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting frameworks
- Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on tax planning, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency
- Drive process improvements, technology implementation, and automation initiatives within the tax function
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all tax filings and payments
- Monitor tax legislation and regulatory developments relevant to the insurance industry
- Manage, develop, and mentor a team of 10 tax professionals, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment
- Coordinate with external advisors and auditors to support compliance, provision, and audit processes
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of corporate tax experience, with significant time spent in the insurance industry
- Proven experience managing large teams and leading complex tax operations
- Deep understanding of tax issues impacting insurance companies (e.g., life, P&C, or reinsurance)
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and state corporate income tax laws, tax provision (ASC 740), and statutory reporting
- CPA or advanced degree (e.g., MST, JD/LLM) strongly preferred
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work across functions and influence senior stakeholders
