Immediate opening for a HR Generalist in Paramount, CA who possesses:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist or related HR role.
  • Strong Labor and Compliance and Worker's Comp Experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish highly desired.

 

FULL DESCRIPTION : The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering and supporting a broad range of human resources functions with a strong focus on labor law compliance, employee relations, workers' compensation administration, and risk mitigation. This role serves as a key resource for employees and management by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while promoting a positive and legally compliant work environment.

 

The HR Generalist will manage employee relations matters, conduct workplace investigations, coordinate workers' compensation claims, support leave administration, and assist with policy implementation and enforcement. Additionally, this position will provide leadership support and assume HR Manager responsibilities as needed, ensuring continuity of HR operations and compliance initiatives.

 

 

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

Labor Relations, Compliance & Employee Relations

  • Serve as a primary HR resource regarding employment law compliance, company policies, and employee relations matters.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, FMLA, CFRA, ADA, FEHA, workers' compensation, harassment prevention, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Conduct workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, attendance issues, harassment, discrimination, and disciplinary matters.
  • Partner with management to address employee performance concerns, corrective actions, coaching, and terminations while minimizing organizational risk.
  • Maintain and update employee handbooks, policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for employee disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and separation processes.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on employee relations best practices and employment law compliance.
  • Support HR audits and ensure all personnel records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements.

Workers' Compensation & Leave Administration

  • Administer all aspects of workers' compensation claims, including reporting injuries, coordinating medical treatment, managing claim documentation, and communicating with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and employees.
  • Monitor open workers' compensation claims and facilitate return-to-work and modified duty programs.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and assist with workplace injury reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate employee leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA accommodations, pregnancy disability leave, and other protected leaves of absence.
  • Work closely with management to ensure compliance with leave laws and interactive process requirements.

HR Operations & Administration

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding, employee records management, HRIS maintenance, and compliance reporting.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, open enrollment, and employee communications.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation.
  • Generate HR reports and metrics related to turnover, attendance, workers' compensation, employee relations, and compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all employee information.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruiting activities, including sourcing, interviewing, selection, background checks, and onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and recruitment strategies.
  • Ensure new hire orientation and onboarding processes are completed in compliance with company policies and employment regulations.
  • Support workforce planning efforts and staffing initiatives to meet operational needs.

Training & Organizational Development

  • Facilitate HR-related training programs, including harassment prevention, labor law compliance, workplace safety, and company policy training.
  • Support performance management processes, employee development initiatives, and succession planning efforts.
  • Promote employee engagement and foster a positive workplace culture through communication and employee-focused programs.

HR Leadership Support

  • Provide leadership coverage and support in the absence of the HR Manager.
  • Assist with policy development, compliance initiatives, organizational changes, and escalated employee relations matters.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on HR strategies, compliance concerns, and workforce planning.
  • Ensure continuity of HR operations while maintaining adherence to company policies and legal requirements.

 

 

The selected candidate will also possess:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist or related HR role.
  • Strong experience handling employee relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Hands-on experience administering workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and leave management.
  • Extensive knowledge of California employment law, wage and hour regulations, leave laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting HR audits and managing compliance initiatives.
  • Prior experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or multi-site operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience with HRIS systems such as ADP, Paycom, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of labor and employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, investigation, and employee relations skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in an office environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout office and production environments as needed.
  • Occasional travel to company locations for investigations, audits, training, or employee relations matters.

 

Salary Range: $82,000 - $87,000/year
