Employee may be detailed to any shift at any plant in the Raleigh District. The Warren position covers plants in Warren and Carteret. Responsibilities Specialized experience required: knowledge of the properties and characteristics of regulated food commodities or other products for human consumption. Duties include applying proper techniques for collecting samples and performing field tests, identifying abnormalities in products or environments, recommending corrective actions, developing written reports, and communicating findings orally to internal and external contacts. Qualifications GS-5: At least 52 weeks of qualifying experience providing knowledge of regulated food commodities and substances such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, or other food or beverages for human consumption or pharmaceuticals. Must demonstrate experience gathering samples, performing field tests, developing reports, communicating findings, and maintaining contacts. GS-7: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 and performing standard and recurrent duties independently. GS-8: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7, with work involving Federal Meat, Poultry, and Egg Products Inspection Acts, basic SSOP and HACCP principles, performing basic mathematics and statistics for testing and sampling. GS-9: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-8, with independent duties such as recommending export refusals and providing temporary coverage outside official duty station. Volunteer experience through national service programs counts as qualifying experience.
