z/OS Systems Programmer

Z/OS Systems ProgrammerGenesis10 is currently seeking a z/OS Systems Programmer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Chandler, AZ, Plano, TX, Charlotte, NC, Pennington, NJ, or Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.This role is responsible for designing, engineering, and maintaining z/OS platform tools and services in alignment with enterprise standards. The ideal candidate will provide subject-matter expertise in z/OS infrastructure, support various teams with technical consultation, and translate business requirements into technical designs and runbooks.Responsibilities:Design, engineer, and maintain z/OS platform tools and services aligned with enterprise architecture standards, governance, and security policiesProvide subject-matter expertise in z/OS infrastructure, supporting application, infrastructure, and engineering teams with technical consultation and best practicesTranslate business and operational requirements into z/OS technical designs, deployment blueprints, standards, and runbooksDevelop and enhance automation, scripts, and tooling to eliminate manual, repetitive tasks and improve system reliability and efficiencyCreate reusable templates and playbooks to standardize system builds, configuration, deployment, and ongoing operationsEvaluate and validate third-party mainframe software and tools for enterprise adoption, ensuring fit-for-purpose and complianceContinuously identify opportunities to improve system performance, resiliency, and operational processes through innovation and modernizationContribute to enterprise product and solution evaluations by defining functional and non-functional technical requirementsSupport risk management, change management, and problem resolution in a regulated, high-availability enterprise environmentProvide technical guidance, mentoring, and leadership to junior staff while promoting an inclusive, collaborative team cultureRequirements:Strong experience configuring, maintaining, and supporting the z/OS operating system, including installing new releases, applying maintenance, and managing PTFs, APARs, and USERMODs using System Modification Program Extended (SMP/E)Proficient in developing and maintaining system utilities, exits, and automation using REXX and Basic Assembly Language (BAL/Assembler)Demonstrated experience administering z/OS UNIX System Services (USS), including file system management, permissions, scripting, and zFS configuration and supportHands-on experience configuring and supporting JES2, including job class definitions, initiator management, spool tuning, and workload controlsStrong working knowledge of TSO/ISPF, including panel usage, utility execution, and support for system programming and operational tasksHands-on experience configuring and managing logical partitions (LPARs) and processor resources using the Hardware Management Console (HMC)Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve system-level issues, including abends, dumps, hardware errors, and performance problems, using IPCS, EREP, and RMF toolsDesired skills:Experience defining and maintaining complex server, storage, and network hardware configurations using Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD)Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24 per hourOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!
