Peer Counselor

Overview Concern Housing is a non‑profit agency committed to helping individuals and families live in the community with dignity and enhanced opportunities. The organization serves approximately 1,300 individuals and families in over 240 locations and offers a variety of housing options and individualized support services. Position Summary Peer Counselor – Full‑time, Middle Island - MRST. Salary $20.00/hr. Days/Hours: Monday – Friday 10 am – 4 pm (30 hours per week). Responsibilities Provide direct care services to clients. Document client assignments and progress. Facilitate support and educational groups for clients. Educate staff about peer perspective, person‑centered language, rights and protections, and alternatives. Educate consumers about their rights and responsibilities, assist them in identifying options, and support decision‑making related to goal setting and achievement. Provide rehabilitative support services in daily living skills, health services, and other assigned areas. Provide Wellness Self‑Management training and assist participants in developing skills and strategies that promote recovery. Participate in program meetings and attend supervision regularly. Accompany consumers to appointments as needed for additional support. Remain current with all agency compliance documents and trainings. Qualifications

• Completed a peer specialist or peer wellness training within the last 3 years.
• Familiarity with benefits and entitlements.
• Ability to communicate effectively, guide others through the self‑help process, and make sound judgments regarding care.
• Experience with travel training, facilitating peer support and educational groups, and/or assisting others with ADL skills.
