Associate Chief Information Officer for EnterpriseSolutions Position Closes May 22, 2026 Responsibilities Set vision, strategy, and organizational structure to meet university IT needs in applications and middleware, including on‑premise and cloud‑based computational resources, and support for faculty, staff, and students. Translate university priorities into technical strategy and architecture, utilizing the university's governance and architectural review processes. Develop and implement an enterprise applications roadmap aligned with the UO's strategic goals, ensuring realistic time‑lines, clear accountability, and measurable outcomes. Lead the evaluation and potential modernization of ERP and data platforms, addressing legacy technical debt, standardizing integrations, and minimizing unnecessary customizations to ensure long‑term sustainability. Foster deep cross‑campus partnerships to advance data strategies, improve access to quality information and reporting, and support the integration of data from multiple on‑premises and cloud solutions. Reinvigorate campus technology governance by rebuilding relationships with administrative and academic leaders, reestablishing lapsed advisory structures, and positioning IS as a strategic thought partner – proactively engaging stakeholders before needs become problems. Thoughtfully evaluate and implement innovative technologies – including AI, automation, and cloud solutions – to enhance operational effectiveness and support student success. Serve as a member of the IS Executive Council, contributing to university technology policy, needs assessment, and program development. Investigate current and emerging technologies that may create new intellectual capital or capabilities for the UO. Support cross‑organizational ideation and innovation efforts focused on technology‑enabled business and academic transformation. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience, skills, and education. Ten or more years of progressive IT leadership experience with demonstrated depth in enterprise applications, integration services, and data management. Demonstrated leadership experience building, developing, and managing high‑performing technology teams, including direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring of IT professionals. Demonstrated experience leading information technology services in a large, decentralized, or otherwise complex organizational environment. Demonstrated experience in leading and sustaining organizational change in environments where trust‑building, stakeholder engagement, and long‑term commitment are essential to success. Experience managing and negotiating vendor contracts and agreements with end‑users, service providers and regulatory agencies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with a wide range of technical skills. Ability to work independently and create a culture of collaboration and sustain a team‑oriented environment. Ability to build alignment, manage resistance, and sustain adoption for change across a multi‑year transformation. Ability to work efficiently and effectively with a wide range of vendors. Ability to effectively manage end‑user expectations and IS resources to meet deadlines and complete projects. Successful experience working, collaborating and establishing credibility and relationships with senior leadership, colleagues and customers. In collaboration with stakeholders and colleagues, ability to make and communicate clear prioritization decisions, manage stakeholder expectations with clarity and transparency. Demonstrated project planning and implementation discipline; able to lead initiatives through completion. Ability to communicate complex technology issues and decisions to non‑technical audiences. Ability to identify and manage resource constraints, minimize effort required to operate technology and create capacity for innovation and new capability. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree, MBA or equivalent graduate‑level business or technology management education preferred. Experience working in IT within a medium/large research university or similarly complex, mission‑driven institution with shared governance models. Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining short‑ and long‑term technology plans and budgets in a complex institutional environment. Formal change management training or certification and demonstrated application in enterprise technology implementations. Experience with ITIL or ITSM frameworks to improve service delivery, operational consistency, and change management practices. Experience leading and managing application and middleware services at scale, including oversight of enterprise platforms, integration architecture, and data management functions. Proven experience developing and executing a multi‑year technology vision and roadmap in alignment with institutional priorities. Experience with business process improvement methodologies; demonstrated ability to partner with operational units to redesign workflows, strengthen front‑end data discipline, and drive process change. Experience designing or improving the ecosystem of systems and services, with an appreciation for modern technology expectations and a commitment to improving the overall digital experiences for students, faculty and staff. Understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or robotic process automation (RPA) as applied to enterprise systems. Experience working with or within a data governance framework in a complex, decentralized institution; demonstrated ability to advance data quality, reporting, and analytics strategies by leading through influence across organizational boundaries. Track record of seeing through multi‑year technology transformations with a history of sustained presence and impact at prior organizations.
