We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in Portland, Oregon. This role is well suited for someone in finance who is comfortable managing core accounting activities, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with internal teams to keep financial processes running smoothly. The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on experience across general ledger work, journal entries, accounts payable, payroll support, and cost tracking.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.

• Maintain general ledger activity, reconcile account balances, and investigate variances to support reliable financial reporting.

• Process accounts payable transactions, verify supporting documentation, and help ensure timely payment of vendor invoices.

• Assist with payroll-related accounting tasks, including recording payroll entries and reconciling associated accounts.

• Track and review project costs to help maintain accurate job cost records and support budget visibility.

• Support month-end and periodic close activities by organizing financial data and completing assigned accounting tasks.

• At least 3-5 years of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant or similar role.

• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and working within the general ledger.

• Practical knowledge of accounts payable processes and invoice management.

• Experience supporting payroll accounting activities and related reconciliations.

• Familiarity with cost tracking, job costing, or project-based accounting.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and efficiently.

• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial analysis and reporting.
