School Counselor

We are seeking a dedicated School Counselor to join our team for the school year. Hourly Rate Range : $35.00-47.00 per hour Responsibilities Include: Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the North Carolina Professional School Counselor Standards and the ASCA National Model. Provide counseling services that support students’ academic development, career readiness, and social-emotional well-being. Deliver individual, small-group, and classroom-based counseling addressing academic concerns, social skills, behavior, mental health, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation. Assist students with academic planning, career exploration, postsecondary preparation, and transition services. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, special education teams, and community providers to support student success. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, student support meetings, IEP and Section 504 meetings, and parent conferences as appropriate. Provide crisis intervention, referrals, and responsive services for students experiencing personal, behavioral, or mental health concerns. Analyze student data to identify needs and evaluate the effectiveness of school counseling services and programs. Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation in accordance with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), FERPA, IDEA, and district requirements. Advocate for students and promote a safe, positive, equitable, and inclusive school environment. Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher in School Counseling from an accredited college or university. Completion of an approved graduate-level school counseling program. Valid North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in School Counseling issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), or eligibility for an appropriate provisional license. Successful completion of the Praxis Professional School Counselor examination, as required for licensure. Experience working with K–12 students in a school setting preferred. Knowledge of comprehensive school counseling programs, social-emotional learning, behavioral interventions, and crisis-response practices. Successful completion of all required criminal background checks and fingerprint clearances.
