Mechanical Design Engineer – Hybrid-Electric Propulsion Systems We are an advanced aerospace engineering organization developing next‑generation hybrid‑electric aircraft designed to transform regional mobility through faster, cleaner, and more efficient air transportation. Our multidisciplinary team combines deep expertise across aerospace, propulsion, mechanical systems, and rapid hardware development to bring innovative aircraft platforms from concept through certification and production. The Role We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Propulsion Team. In this role, you will support the design, analysis, integration, and testing of high‑performance propulsion systems and associated mechanical and thermal subsystems. You will work in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment alongside electrical, manufacturing, test, and flight teams to develop propulsion hardware from early concept through prototype build, testing, and iterative refinement. What You'll Do Design and integrate propulsion‑related mechanical systems and subsystems including motors, generators, inverters, turbines, structures, and cooling systems Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack‑ups Support the development and optimization of thermal management systems including air and liquid cooling solutions Perform engineering analyses using hand calculations and FEA to support design decisions Conduct DFM/DFA trade studies balancing weight, cost, manufacturability, reliability, and thermal performance Support hands‑on prototype assembly, integration, testing, debugging, and root cause analysis activities Translate test data and prototype feedback into design improvements and engineering updates Manage designs throughout the engineering lifecycle including documentation and change management Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field 4+ years of experience designing complex mechanical or electromechanical systems Experience owning hardware designs from concept through build, test, and iteration Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and production‑quality drawing creation with GD&T Strong understanding of tolerance stack‑ups and real‑world integration challenges Experience designing for manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing Hands‑on experience with prototype builds, testing, and hardware troubleshooting Experience working with electromechanical systems such as motors, power electronics, rotating machinery, batteries, or cooling systems Preferred Qualifications Experience with propulsion systems, hybrid‑electric systems, or high‑performance electromechanical hardware Knowledge of thermal management systems, vibration, and structural dynamics Experience performing thermal and structural analysis using FEA, CFD, or analytical methods Familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter Background in aerospace, EV powertrain, robotics, or other advanced hardware industries Experience supporting prototype and early production hardware environments Note, US Citizen or Green Card Holder Only #J-18808-Ljbffr
