Young Adult Case Manager

The Division of Juvenile Services (DJS) [NDCC 27-21] is the administrative agency directed to take custody of delinquent and unruly youth committed to its care by the Juvenile Courts. The Division of Juvenile Services operates the North Dakota Youth Correctional Center and eight regional community-based services offices located statewide. Within the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, The Division of Juvenile Services and the Division of Adult Services have joined forces to better engage adults that are on parole and/or probation. Young Adult Case Managers use evidence-based practices and existing resources to improve supervision completion rates for 18-24 year olds that have been sentenced to ND Parole and Probation. The Community Services staff provide comprehensive case management as well as community based correctional services to youth who are placed across the continuum of care. Community Services, in cooperation with the Division of Child and Family Services, North Dakota Association of Counties and the Department of Public Instruction provides an array of placement options and services for troubled adolescents.

Summary of Work


Work involves providing case management services in the community to offenders 18 to 24 years of age that have been sentenced to ND Parole and Probation.

Duties and Tasks


*Develop and maintain professional working relationships with the Parole & Probation staff, courts, social service agencies, human service centers, and other relevant agencies within the community.

*Compile and analyze information to assess the needs of young adults.

*Develop, implement, and monitor individual treatment programs.

*Provide structured supervision with 18-24 year olds.

*Arrange, facilitate, and monitor placements.

*Provide crisis intervention and follow-up to emergency services for young adults.

*Assess need for individual counseling referrals and coordinate with service providers.

*Prepare documentation for revocation hearings.

*Prepare documents and maintain files to complete case documentation required by the central office, court, county social services, and other agencies involved in the young adult program.

*Complete time logs as part of targeted case management.

Minimum Qualifications


Young Adult Corrections Officer requires a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, criminal justice, juvenile justice, or other closely related field and two years of work experience providing case management services to delinquent youth, 18-24 year olds or offenders. A master's degree in one of the above fields may substitute for one yar of the work experience requirement. Start date 9/3/2026.
